The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation coordinated a familiarisation tour to the Maldives for a group of 3 journalists representing various media targeting the general consumer via daily papers covering and online magazine versions from 26th August – 3rd September 2012.
The main purpose of arranging such media fam trips is to bring journalists to Maldives to experience the product first hand in order to get positive editorial publicity about the destination. The group consists of a journalist from Dive magazine (circulation 35,250 ) and Zest magazine (circulation 70,043 ) and Conde Nast Bride Guide.
The theme of the fam trip was based on the underwater beauty of the Maldives. Hence, the journalists was hosted by Dusit Thani (Baa Atoll), Vivanta Taj Coral Reef (North Male’ Atoll) and Fourseasons Kuda Huraa (North Male’ Atoll). They were accompanied by a representative from the Rooster Creative Ltd., the PR Agent of MMPRC for the UK market.
Such media visits help Maldives to strengthen the positive image of the destination to reach the destination’s target of attracting a million tourists by the end of this year.
A total of 61,021 arrivals were registered from UK by the end of July 2012.
