Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation jointly with the industry partners organized a fam trip for Indian market from 5-12th August 2012. The fam group includes journalists from travel magazines, mainline publications, newspapers, fashion and lifestyle magazines from various cities in India.

During the 6day fam trip, apart from the beauty of the beaches and the lavish living in the resorts, the journalists were exposed to the local cuisines, eco-tourism, marine environment as well as to local living and experience to cover in their stories.

From snorkeling with manta rays and whale sharks in Hanifaru Bay and living luxury at Dusit Thani Maldives to learning about the Coral Nursery and Reef Regeneration Project and taking Maldivian cooking classes in Anantara Dhigu and a tour of Eco Centre in Kuramathi Island Resort to taking a dive into the colorful marine waters in Whale Submarine and trying out local delicacies at a local home and driving back to the history and culture of Maldives, the journalists were open to all the elements of the destination.

The fam trip will help to increase Maldives presence in the Indian market, highlighting Maldives as an affordable holiday destination and so much to do while enjoying its beauty and serenity.

Maldives registered a total of 15,356 Indian visitors to the country by the end of July 2012.
