To  commemorate  the  World  Environment  day  Maldives  Marketing  and  Public  Relations Corporation is welcoming the renowned Artist Bipasha Sen Guptha to showcase her line of paintings “HOW BLUE IS MY OCEAN” on Sunday, June 5, 2011  from 8:30 at National Art Gallery. The art exhibition which will be held for two days in Male’ will be moved to Waldorf Astoria hotels Beach House and Zitahli Resorts & Spa.

The  World  Environment  Day,  5th  June  is  observed  each  year  throughout  the  world,  to focus  attention  on  emerging  environmental  issues, and to  induce  public  action.  The  art exhibition “HOW BLUE IS MY  OCEAN” depicts the serious impact of global warming and the  gradual  disappearance  of coral  reefs.  This  set  of  acrylic  on  canvas  will  show  the importance of their preservation, the delicate environment – and the significance of this to the world.

As an avid environmentalist, the Self taught artist Bipasha Sen Guptha is highly influenced by the effects of Global Warming and the rapid disappearance of the Coral Reefs during her  visit  to  the  Maldives  &  the  Andaman  Islands,  she  realized  how  important  it  was  for humankind  to  preserve  the  nature.  “Coral  reefs  are  probably  the  most  complex ecosystems on the planet. The damage being caused to reefs and the open ocean is one of the most serious  effects  of  global  warming.  The  jewels  under  the  ocean  are  fast disappearing and the treasure chest might be very soon empty”, says Bipasha.
