More than 50,000 attendees are expected to visit the fair this year, among this 70% would be intermediaries of the tourist product and 30% would be travel agents visiting the fair for the first time.

Italy was the number one tourist generating market to Maldives for 7 years from 1998 to 2004 and it was one of the major and well established markets to the Maldives over the years. However, due to the European financial crisis, the market has shown a negative performance over the last five years. In addition, the diminishing of Italian club style resorts has added to this as well. According to July 2013 Statistics, Italy is the 5th largest market to Maldives with 5.6% market share. By the end of July 2013, 34,864 tourist arrivals were recorded from Italy.
