An Online Training Program website www.visitmaldives.com.cn in Chinese was launched during the road show held on 18th June 2012 in Beijing, China coinciding with the Beijing International Travel Exchange that was held from 15 – 17 June 2012. The launching ceremony was attended by the Maldives High Commissioner to the China, Hon. Mohamed Rasheed, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, and officials of MMPRC and the participants of BITE fair.

Maldives recorded a total of 73,339 tourist arrivals till end of May 2012, indicating a sign of continuous growth of tourists to the country. It represented an increase of 12.6 per cent. China has emerged as the number 1 market since August 2010. This is the first time that an Asian country has taken over the number 1 position of tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
