Inaugurated by President Mohamed Nasheed and boosting a culinary section which attracted a record number of 346 chefs who competed in 15 different categories, the seventh edition of the Hotel Asia 2011 Exhibition and Culinary Challenge took place in Male, Maldives from July 14th to 16th 2011. The three-day exhibition reported as the largest international event held to date in the Maldives was successfully attended by Diva Maldives’ international team of chefs.
Competing in 10 out of 15 different categories boosted the team spirit of the Diva’s chefs coming from all over Asia, including Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines and Indonesia. An outstanding performance as reported from the international panel of judges who followed closely each team and rewarded a wide range of culinary creations throughout the three days.
Lead by the Executive Chef Steve Van Remoortel, Diva’s team competed in 10 categories and obtained medals in each of them-impressively, three gold medals, two silver and 5 bronze. “I am very proud to lead an extremely dedicated team, they were certainly excited about the competition but mostly dedicated to showcase their best skills” says Chef Steve, who has been working closely with his team to prepare them for the competition during the past few weeks.
