The Maldives has continued its reputation as one of the world’s leading luxury destinations, after been honoured in Shanghai last week at the inaugural Asia Pacific Hotel Awards 2011 in association with Bloomberg Television. Island Hideaway Resort Spa and Marina was awarded a "5 Star" in the category of Best Small Hotel Maldives and Lily Beach Resort and Spa was awarded a “Highly Commended” in the category of Best Resort Hotel Maldives.

The Asia Pacific Hotel Awards identify and highlight the very best hotels and hospitality professionals across the globe. They evolved out of the International Property Awards, which have been established for 17 years and are regarded as a benchmark of excellence throughout the global industry.

Michael Wieser, Chief Operating Officer and the team of Island Hideaway & Lily Beach is excited and thrilled to be recognized with the prestigious honours. Mr. Wieser expressed his delight in receiving the highest award of 5 stars for Island Hideaway and the Highly Commended award for Lily Beach. He expressed his appreciation to the team of both resorts, for their hard work and effort, which resulted in such recognitions and awards.

Island Hideaway is a luxury boutique resort situated on the privately-owned uninhabited virgin island of Dhonakulhi and is one of only three resorts in the Haa Alifu Atoll. It boasts the first fullyequipped, state-of-the-art marina in the Maldives and prides itself on being able to provide tailor made experiences for guests, from dedicated personal butlers to private sandbank picnics.

The all-inclusive Platinum Plan at Lily Beach spares no detail and is designed to pamper guests with a fantastic array of services including unlimited cocktails, premium wines and spirits, à la carte dinning, sports activities, excursions and deluxe accommodation in one of the islands 119 luxury villas.

Top-scoring winners from the Asia Pacific Hotel Awards will compete at the end of the year against other winning companies from Europe, Africa, the Americas and Arabia to find the ultimate ‘World’s Best’ in each category. The final results will be revealed at a gala presentation dinner to be held at London’s Savoy Hotel in January next year.
