Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation together with the industry are attending the Arabian Travel Market from 5-8 May 2014. The Maldives delegation comprises of 104 delegates from 49 companies, representing 13 Resorts and 37 Travel Agents.

Tourism destinations from the Middle East and around the world showcase a diverse range of accommodation options, breathtaking tourism attractions and new airline routes
ATM, the largest trade and consumer travel show in the Gulf region, serves as an ideal platform for Maldivian suppliers and relevant agencies to establish marketing networks with their United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Middle East counterparts. The Maldivian delegation updated the travel trade and members of the media in the UAE and Middle East on new developments and products in the Maldives. Participation in this annual travel market helped to strengthen the presence of Maldives in the Middle East market as ATM brings together the regions buyers and sellers from every sector of the industry.
This year marks Maldives’ 15th year of participation at the ATM. Maldives’ continuous support for this annual event demonstrates a firm interest in the Middle East market, which showed potential growth in the past few years.
The Maldives Pavilion with an area space of 103 sq. meters was prominently located at stand number AS7050, next to the Thailand Pavilion. Themed as a beach resort of the Maldives with a water bungalow where visitors can experience a little bit of Maldives, the concept showcased the uniqueness of the Beach bungalow in seen in resorts of Maldives with its tradition and culture. At the back of the stand visitors will have the opportunity to take pictures in in a background made to feel like they are in Maldives.
In March, 2,404 arrivals were recorded from the Middle East with a growth of 33.6%. By the end of March 2013, Maldives attracted a total of 6,665 arrivals from Middle East market which is a percentage change of 53.4%. Middle East shares 2.3% of the total market share. Saudi Arabia is the leading market from the Middle East. A total of 1,047 tourists arrived from Saudi Arabia in March.
Maldives will also be taking part at the dnata Travel market (dTM) in line with the annual Arabian Travel Market. This is to attract more Travel Agents and Tour Operators as well as to enhance the destination presence in the Middle Eastern Market.
Dnata’s goal is to provide a venue for their numerous staff in the UAE and across the GCC to meet with the travel partner, and provide them with the necessary knowledge and updates about the destination and travel products that will cater to the ever-growing Middle East market. At dTM, they provide an exclusive opportunity to tourism boards to showcase their up-to-date information. Moreover, this will help to have face-to-face interaction with the travel consultants, tour specialists and industry professionals. Last year’s dTM was a huge success and dnata wants to continue this amazing event as an annual gathering between dnata Travel staff and important travel partners.
